Kokoni Street sits inside the old town, so nothing on this page needs a taxi — the furthest thing on it is 950 metres away.
Stone Town is a maze of coral-rag walls and carved doors, and the fastest way to understand it is to leave the house without a plan. The Sultan's Palace and the Old Dispensary are 650 m from us, the Hamamni Persian Baths and the House of Wonders 700 m, the Old Fort 950 m. Stone Town Beach is a seven-minute walk. There are three restaurants within 200 m of the door, none of them ours.

Two of the seafront's landmarks sit the same short distance from us, both on the water side of the old town. The Palace and the Old Dispensary with its carved balconies are 650 m away — about eight minutes if you do not stop, and considerably longer if you do.
